Karu – The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has called on residents of Nasarawa State to protect electricity installations across the state.
Mr Ameen Shakur, the AEDC General-Manager in the state, made the appeal on Sunday during a town hall meeting at Ado, Karu Local Government Area.
Shakur, represented by Mr Paul Onwuzulike, urged electricity consumers to take ownership of equipment in their areas by protecting them as their personal property.
“Communities need to protect equipment installed in their respective domains especially transformers against vandalism.
“The only way we can serve you better is when our equipment are protected and not allowed to be damaged.
“If these equipment are vandalised, we will spend a lot of resources that were supposed to be used in improving services in other areas to replace them,” he said.
The general manager said that the company was making efforts toward improving service delivery to their customers in their area of coverage, comprising Niger, Nasarawa and Kogi states as well as the Federal Capital Territory.
Shakur explained that the meeting was to cross-fertilise ideas and get first-hand information from their customers with the aim of addressing them.
“We are gathered here to share information on our challenges to enable us improve our service to you. We are here to hear areas where we offended you, so that we can ratify them amicably,” he said.
Similarly, Mr Oyebode Fadipe, Head of Corporate Communication at AEDC Headquarters, described the interactive event as delightful; adding that they are interfacing with esteemed customers to know what they feel, so that AEDC can improve.
“I assured you our customers that all the challenges you have mentioned will enable us to re-strategise to serve you better,” he said.
Earlier, Mr Adams Usaini, who spoke on behalf of other customers, commended AEDC for improved and regular supply of power to customers in Ado compared to years back.
Hwoever, he appealed to AEDC to provide more transformers in the area due to population explosion.
