ABUJA – The duo of Seun Ajetunmobi and Kazeem Adeniyi on Thursday won the men’s doubles title of the 11th Aso Table Tennis Club National Championship.
The championship is holding at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Abuja National Stadium and is being organised in collaboration with the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF).
Ajetunmobi and Adeniyi defeated the pair of Gbenga Ajulo and Hameed Bello 4-1 (12-14, 11-4, 11-5, 11-7, 11-4) to emerge winners of the men’s doubles.
Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in an interview, both players expressed joy over their victory at the game.
”We are happy that we won, though we were sure of victory.
”Our opponents are good but we are a better side. We really thank God,” Ajetunmobi and Adeniyi said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Portugal-based Ajetunmobi is the number one seeded player in the tournament and Nigeria’s third-ranked player.
On the other hand, Adeniyi is the 14th-ranked player in Nigeria and sixth-seeded in the tournament.
In the third-place match of the category, the duo of Kehinde Oladele and Olabisi Yusuf from Oyo State defeated David Faleye and Azeez Ogunlade from Lagos State 3-2.
The pair won 8-11, 11-6, 7-11, 11-6, 11-9.

NAN reports that over 200 players from 25 states and the FCT are taking part in the championship.
The championship which began on Tuesday is expected to end on Friday.(NAN)
