UYO (Sundiata Post) – The people of Urue-Offong/Oruko and Oron Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State have been told to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan for second term, Mr. Udom Emmauel as the next governor and for candidates of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming elections.
Akwa Ibom Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio stated this during the PDP campaign rally at the Methodist Primary School Urue Offong and at the Oron Township Stadium.
At Urue-Offiong/Oruko, he remarked, “I call on the people of Urue-Offong to support the winning party which is the PDP, support President Jonathan for second term, also support and stand by Mr. Emmanuel as the next governor of the state, for he will be the one to discuss your future and I must assure you that he will never be tribalistic because the state wants a government that is detribalized”.
He said the future belongs to the youths of Urue Offong, and noted that it is time to sit down together to discuss the future with the youthpoi remarking that before his tenure is over, he would fix a town hall meeting for the youths of Oro nation.
At Oron township stadium, Governor Akpabio pointed out that the next governorship seat has been shifted to Eket Senatorial District, and assured Oron people that they won’t be disappointed with the choice of Mr. Udom Emmanuel as the next governor and that he would bring development to Oro nation, calling on the people of Oron not to allow people to mislead them but to vote PDP in the upcoming elections.
Also speaking, Mr. Udom Emmauel reassured Oro nation and the future leaders that everything they asked of in terms of development would be delivered to them during his administration, urging them to thank Governor Akpabio for supporting power shift to Eket Senatorial District because they won’t be disappointed.
Emmanuel stated that when he emerges as the next governor, his administration would complete the Ibaka eep Sea port which he said is situated within the shoreline of Oro nation, and that a company would be built to export fishes in their waters to other countries as a means of expanding the state economy.

He assured the youths of appointments in his administration, creation of jobs for them and carrying the people of Oron along and ensuring that Maritime Academy of Nigeria in Oron would become a degree-awarding higher institution, among others.
The state PDP Chairman, Mr. Paul Ekpo who spoke earlier said he was impressed with the mammoth crowd, stressing that Oro nation is for PDP, calling on them to support President Jonathan and PDP candidates in the state.
Ekpo, then presented flags to PDP candidates for the state house of assembly, house of representatives and senate.
In their goodwill messages, stakeholders in Oron reaffirmed their total support for president Jonathan, for Mr. Udom Emmauel as the next governor and support for all PDP candidates in the state, stakeholders who spoke were Chief Nelson Effiong, Mr. Akon Eyakenyi, Minister of Land and Housing, among others.
