Lagos – Gov. Ben Ayade of Cross River, on Tuesday said that the 2015 Akwaaba Travel Market would promote cultural integration among African countries.
Ayade spoke at the closing ceremony of the programme in Lagos.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the three-day programme began on Sunday.
He said that there was need for Africans to come together, saying that the world was getting smaller, and the countries getting thinner.
Ayade said that there was need for Africans to come together with unanimity of purpose to strengthen Africans’ course.
The governor commended the efforts of the organiser of the fair, Mr Ikechi Uko, whom he said, had been promoting Nigerian tourism in foreign countries.
”We must come together to recognise the value of African travel, that is, Africans should travel within African countries as there are lots of potential within,’’ he said.
