PORT HARCOURT (Sundiata Post) – The Rivers State Judicial Commission of Inquiry investigating the immediate past administration of former Governor Rotimi Amaechi will on Thursday,  August 27 commence hearing on the abandoned Monorail project.
Justice George Omereji, chairman of the Commission, gave this ruling after the counsel to the Commission, Dr Zacchaeus Adangor, observed that 10 officials summoned by the commission would be available for their testimonies on Friday.
He applied for adjournment of the sitting to Thursday, to enable the commission commence public hearing on the Rivers State multi-billion naira project, which has been a source of controversy across  the state.

“In view of the fact that there is no witness to give evidence on the Agricultural Scheme, having allowed the persons summoned to appear before the Commission on Friday August 28, 2015, the Commission has decided to adjourn the proceedings till August 27, 2015 for hearing on the monorail project,” Justice Omereji ruled.
The monorail project started in the early life of the Amaechi administration is seen as one of the most controversial projects in the state in view of its high cost and questions about its location, relevance and the allegations surrounding it.
