AMICHI – Bishop Ephraim Ikeakor, Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Amichi in Anambra, has said that the diocese was making agriculture its major focus of investment and economic transformation.
Ikeakor said this in Amichi near Nnewi in Anambra when he addressed newsmen on the third session of the second Synod of the Diocese of Amichi.
He stated that the diocese had continued to create jobs for its youths through the various agricultural ventures, especially its rapidly growing poultry farm.
“This diocese has embarked on various projects since its creation six years ago.’’
The bishop said the projects being executed cover education, healthcare and agriculture, which, the diocese had made its flagship project.
“The diocese has over 10,000 life birds in its poultry farm at the Diocesan Integrated Farm worth over N80 million.
“We have started poultry feed manufacturing.
“Our diocesan fish pond can contain over 30,000 fingerlings while we are working out an expansion in grass-cutter rearing, among others.’’
The bishop encouraged youths to embrace to enable them to earn good money.
‘’Agriculture, especially our fertile land, is one of the free gift of nature around us and accessible to all,’’ Ikeakor said.
The synod, scheduled to hold at the Immanuel Anglican Church, Ekwulumili, Nnewi South Local Government Area, will run from June 6 to June 9. (NAN)
