ADO-EKITI – The Secretary-General of the Forum of Directors of Sports, Mr Kayode Adewumi, on Monday commended President Goodluck Jonathan for appointing Alhassan Yakmut as the acting Director-General of THE National Sports Commission.
Adewumi, who is also the General Manager of Ekiti State Sports Council, gave the commendation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ado-Ekiti.
He described Yakmut’s appointment as a blessing to sports development in Nigeria, noting that it would bring innovations to how sports could be better developed.
According to Adewumi, the new NSC boss, who has been a core professional in sports in his entire career, knows the importance of sports.
He said there was the need for the commission to improve and encourage youth participation in sports.
” We all ought to be preparing for National Sports Festival, but due to lack of proper planning, the date is yet to be fixed.
“I believe with the current change in the head of administration of the sports commission, the date for the National Sports Festival will be fixed.
“The earlier, the better for the nation to discover new talents that will represent the country,” he said.
Adewumi advised the acting Director General of the commission to use his vast experience to revisit some of the loopholes in the affairs of sports in Nigeria. (NAN)
