Zaria (Kaduna State)- Maj-Gen. Adamu Babayo-Abubakar, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division, Enugu, on Saturday said that the Nigerian Army will continue its high academic standard in all its institutions across the country.
Babayo-Abubakar said this in an interview with Journalists shortly after he represented the Chief of Army Staff at the 75 Regular Recruits Passing Out Parade at the Depot Nigerian Army, Zaria, Kaduna State.
The GOC said: “We in the Army, we have zero tolerance for indiscipline, just as you can see, here in the depot, those that we felt have not met up with our standard by way of deeds, discipline and character are shown the way out.
“These category of recruits were chocked-out of training even before they got to the end, again, those who came in with fake results, we went to verify from NECO, WAEC and NAPTEP.
“In view of this, those found guilty were not part of this over 5,000 that passed out today, we have done our best and we will continue to improve on what we are doing,” he assured.
On insurgency in the North-East, Babayo-Abubakar said that the Army was doing very well in collaboration with neighbouring countries like Cameroon, Chad and Niger.
“Each country is given a sector to manage, Nigeria is managing its own, Cameroon too, so also Niger and Chad. It is a joint effort and they are all doing very well.
“Boko Haram will soon be a thing of the past. As you know, our soldiers have entered into the hinterland of Sambisa and as the Chief of Army Staff said, we will all be there for Christmas,” he said.
