Super Eagles’ right back Leon Balogun has spoken of his excitement at being called up by Nigeria for Wednesday’s international friendly against Uganda. The Darmstadt 98 of Germany defender played his only previous game for the Super Eagles more than a year ago, when he starred in the second half of the friendly with Mexico at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, USA, but then got injured and was on crutches the following day. The accident effectively ruled him out of consideration for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

“I am very happy to be back with the Super Eagles. I’m really looking forward to linking up with my team mates in Uyo. I have already spoken with Anthony Ujah (also called up by Nigeria) and he’s also delighted,” Balogun said.
The defender confirmed being contacted by stand-in Coach Daniel Amokachi, as the three-time African champions look to earn a good result against the Cranes on Wednesday.
