Yenagoa – The Bayelsa Government is to partner with the European Union (EU) and UNICEF in the provision of potable water in the state.
The state Commissioner for Water Resources, Mr Nengi Tubonah, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Yenagoa that his ministry was collaborating with the EU to upgrade the Ovom Water Station.
He said the EU had also delivered a drilling machine to the state for the purpose of constructing boreholes.
The commissioner also said that the ministry and UNICEF had awarded contracts to facilitate the provision of potable water across the state.
Tubonah further said that the state government had already paid its counterpart fund while water projects had commenced in Kolokuma – Opokuma, Ogbia and Brass communities.
