YENAGOA (Sundiata Post) – Barely 24 hours after his appointment as Minister of State for Agricultural and Rural Infrastructure, suspected loyalists of a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, on Thursday attacked PDP supporters in Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, signalling what should be expected during the December 5 governorship election in Bayelsa State.
The incident happened at the venue of a rally organised by the youths in support of Governor Seriake Dickson.
The suspected thugs arrived the venue of the event in three double engines speed boats with a threat to shoot and maim anyone that dare challenge them.
Brandishing dangerous weapons including cutlass and cudgels, they called for the outright cancellation of the rally else they will turn the entire community upside down.
Sensing the danger ahead, residents of the communities were forced indoors as the suspected took over the area.
In order to avert bloodbath, the organisers of the rally alerted the security operatives in the area.
As reliably informed, security operatives were drafted into the area to bring the situation under control.

Lokpobori is the Campaign Director of Sylva/Igiri campaign Organisation.
Condemning the development in a statement, the Director of Publicity, Restoration Campaign Organisation, Jonathan Obuebite said it was sad to note that after the signing of peace pact by the aspirants, APC could still descend to the level of sponsoring thugs to disrupt the PDP organized rally.
“Not only this, a former senator and newly sworn in Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who supposed to be a rallying figure for the youths in the state could be the brain behind the heinous act,” the statement said.
