Abuja -The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) on Wednesday urged the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in New Kucingoro, located on the Airport Road of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to be patient with the government.
The Primate, the Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh, who led a delegation of the communion to make donations, urged the IDPs to exercise patience, as the government was making efforts to improve on the security situation in the North East.
Okoh advised the victims not to yield to peer pressure and to stay out of trouble as they await the outcome of the government’s efforts to deal with insurgency.
“We want you to continue to exercise patience with the government as they are also trying their best to see that each and every one of you leaves this place.
“We want to appeal to you not to yield to peer pressure or enticements so that you will stay out of trouble.
“The church is doing all these for the sake of humanity, which we all have in common, to reduce the level of your suffering,’’ Okoh said.
Earlier, Mr Philemon Emmanuel, the camp leader, appealed to the government to speedily deal with the Boko Haram challenge.
Emmanuel thanked the different churches that had visited them in the cause of their travail.
“ I plead with the government to settle the problem they are facing with Boko Haram.
“ We want to say thank you to various churches that came to visit us in our time of trouble,’’ he said. (NAN)
