Abuja   –   The Ministry of Communications is drafting a bill to unbundle Information Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure to
contribute more to national economy, the Minister of Communication, Mr Adebayo Shittu, said.

The minister disclosed this at the ongoing sectoral debate on diversification of the country’s economy at the House of Representatives on Wednesday in Abuja.

He said that the draft bill was aimed at increasing private participation in ICT, adding that apart from the revenue generated from the sector, ICT
could compete favourably with oil and gas sector in terms of job and wealth creation for the country.

He attributed the challenges confronting the development of the sector to obsolete laws, adding that the country needed to spend more to unlock the potential in the sector. (NAN)
