Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Hon. Tony Nwoye has emerged the winner of the APC gubernatorial primary in Anambra State that took place on Saturday August 26, 2017.
Nwoye will now fly the flag of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the November 18 governorship election in the state.
He won the primary with a total vote of 2,146 to emerge the winner in the thorough contest that lasted from Saturday till about 4.30pm of today(Sunday).
Before announcing the result, the governor of Borno State, Governor Shettima made the following remarks:
“This is the easiest election that has been conducted. When an umpire has interest on who wins an election that is when the conduct of the election becomes difficult”.
We deliberately passed through Enugu to Anambra to avoid contact with what would be viewed as actions to suggest that we have been compromised, else wue would have passed through Owerri which is an APC State. But know we passed through Enugu and Governor Ugwuanyi is a PDP Governor who provided us with logistics to show our neutrality, Shetimma said.
He thanked the delegates, Police, APC and APC offiocial for their support in making the election a success. Shettima especially thanked INEC for witnessing the election.
Also not left out in his commendation are the agents for their support and cooperation throughout the long day and night that the election lasted.
According to him, We deliberately did not use the government facilities- we paid for our hotel bills with own personal money and paid for our food ourselves.
Shetimma who informed that Anambra State is strategic and the centre of the south east, therefore advised that they should learn to do things differently.
Hon Nwoye won the primary with 2,146 votes beating 10 other contestants, including the second-placed Senator Andy Ubah, during the primary election held on Saturday at the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka.
