Lagos – Two casual workers who allegedly stole 600 bags of rice valued at N8 million from their employer appeared before an Apapa Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Tuesday. The accused, Godswill Sambo, 37, and Tunde Omor, 47, both residing in Apapa area of Lagos, are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and receiving stolen goods. The Prosecutor, Insp. Tony Elibeh, said that the accused committed the offences on Jan.17 at Yaka Investment Company, Mile 2 Estate, Amuwo-Odofin, Festac Town in Lagos. Elibeh said that the accused conspired and stole 600 bags of rice, property of Yaka Investment Company. He said that Sambo was supposed to deliver the bags of rice to the company’s customers, but absconded with the rice. “Sambo delivered the goods to his co-worker, Omor, with a plan to sell the rice and convert the money to their own use,” he said.
