Nsukka (Enugu State) – The All Progressives Congress ((APC) in Nsukka Local Government of Enugu State on Saturday returned all its former executives during its congress held in the council.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that delegates from the 20 wards of the council were all accredited by the state congress electoral team led by Mr Badala Eze.
NAN reports that the executives emerged through voice votes by the delegates at the congress.
Those returned include Local Government Chairman of the party in Nsukka, Mr Joseph Ugwuoke, Vice Chairman, Mr Paulinus Ugwuuyi and Secretary, Mr Sunday Onah.
In his remarks, Eze thanked the delegates for making his job easier adding that election would have been conducted if a single delegate opposed the voice vote to return concerned officials.
“We have 19, 320 ballots and other requirements to conduct the election but the voice vote method by delegates to return LG executives of the party made our job easier,” he said.
Commenting on the congress, the observer leader of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mr Uche Anya commended the delegates for peaceful congress.
“I am happy for the peaceful conduct of APC Local Government Congress in the area,” he said.
Speaking with NAN, Mr Kenneth Okonkwo, an APC governorship aspirant in the state and Nollywood actor who hails from Nsukka, expressed happiness over the peaceful conduct of the congress.
He said that the decision of the delegates to return past executive of the party was because of their good performance and continuity of party activities.
