Lagos – An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, on Wednesday remanded one Salisu Buhari, 22, at the Kirikiri Prisons, Apapa, pending his sentencing for stealing a generator valued at N70,000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Y.R. Pinheiro, remanded Buhari after he pleaded guilty to the two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing.
Pinheiro adjourned the case to Feb. 3, for facts and sentencing.
Buhari claimed to be a trader who resides at the Ijaiye-Ojokoro area of Lagos State.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Uche Simon, told the Court that the accused committed the offences on Jan. 17 at No. 25, Abiok St., Ijaiye Ojokoro, a suburb of Lagos.
He said that the accused burgled one Adewunmi Adewuyi’s house and stole his generator.
“Adewuyi said he was coming back from church when he caught the accused with his generator in front of their gate, trying to escape with it.

“When he confronted Buhari, he told him that his landlord had requested for it.
The landlord, however, denied any knowledge of the matter,’’ he said.
Simon said the offences contravened Sections of 285 and 307 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
He urged the court to remand the accused in custody, following his plea. (NAN)
