Ibadan – An Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ibadan on Thursday discharged a 44-year-old woman who allegedly stole a child.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs I.O Omotosho, said the woman was discharged because the complainant, Mrs Victoria Kolawole of Ado Awaye, withdrew the case through an affidavit dated Sept. 14, 2017.
She added that the stolen child had been released to her mother since the day the woman was arrested.
The woman was first arraigned on Aug. 31 and granted bail in the sum of N100,000 with two
sureties by the court but she could not perfect the bail conditions and was remanded at Agodi prison.
Earlier, the police prosecutor, Sgt. Olalekan Adegbite, said the woman allegedly stole nine months old girl on Aug. 20, at 8 a.m. at Ado Awaye, via Iseyin, Oyo State.
Adegbite says the offence is contrary to and punishable under Section 371 of the Criminal Code Cap 38, Vol.II, Laws of Oyo State 2000.
