Kano (Kano State) – A Magistrate’s court in Kano on Tuesday remanded three persons – Abubakar Abdulkarim, 40, Abdullahi Idris, 22 and Abdullahi Yakubu, 27, for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl.

The suspects were charged with rape, contrary to Section 283 of the Penal Code.
The Prosecutor, Mr Saleh Muhammad, told the court that one Maryam Halidu of Kadawa village, Garun Malam Local Government in Kano State reported the matter at Garun Malam Divisional Police Headquarters on Feb.15.
The complainant alleged that her daughter was raped by the trio.
Mohammed said one of the suspects, Abdulkarim, of the same address, lured the complainant’s daughter and forcefully had unlawful sexual intercourse with her after which he gave her N300.
He further alleged that the two other suspects, Idris and Yakubu, also had unlawful sexual intercourse with the said victim at different locations.
According to him, the victim was later taken to Kura General Hospital for medical examination and treatment.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge.
The Magistrate, Fatima Adamu, after taking their pleas, ordered that they be remanded in prison, and adjourned the case to April 12 for further mention. (NAN)
