Lagos – An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Monday remanded a 29- year-old unemployed man, Arinze Oluebube in Kirikiri Prisons over alleged pick pocketing.
Oluebube is being tried for stealing a wallet containing a cell phone and N1,400 at a bus stop.
The Magistrate, Mrs S.K. Matepo, remanded the defendant at Kirikiri Prisons after he pleaded guilty to stealing and causing breach of peace.
The defendant, whose address was not given, is facing two-count charge of stealing and causing breach of peace.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Innocent Odugbo, told the court that the offences were committed on June 20, at Abibola area of Iju, a suburb of Lagos.
Odugbo said that the defendant stole a wallet containing a cell phone valued at N5,500 and N1,400 cash from the complainant, Segun Goke.
“The accused was about leaving the scene when one of the people at the bus stop who saw Oluebube in the act shouted and he was apprehended,” he said.
The offences contravened sections 168 and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The case was adjourned until July 10 for sentencing.
