Osogbo – An Osogbo Magistrates’ Court in Osun, on Wednesday, ordered the remand of a 33-year-old man, Rasheed Adeola, in Ilesa Correctional Centre over alleged theft of a motorcycle.
Adeola is facing a one-count charge bordering on theft.
The Magistrate, Mrs Risikat Olayemi, had ordered that the defendant be remanded in Ilesa Correctional Centre, due to the magnitude of the offence allegedly committed.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Olufemi Olanibi, told the court that the defendant committed the offense on Nov. 29, 2019, within the Osogbo metropolis before he was apprehended.
Olanibi said Adeola stole a motorcycle belonging to one Ahmed Owosho Alaska and had confessed to selling the motorcycle to another buyer.
He gave the registration number of the motorcycle, valued at about N215,000, as GNN 310 UJ.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 383 and punishable under Section 390 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol.11, Laws of Osun, 2003.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the offence preferred against him.
The Defence Counsel, Mr Najite Okobie, prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.
The magistrate, however, rejected the bail application by the defence counsel and ordered that the defendant be remanded in Ilesa correctional centre till Jan. 23, the next adjourned date.
