Asaba – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said it had registered 71,039 eligible voters in Delta between April 28 and date under its Continuous Voters’ Registration (CVR).
INEC’s Administrative Secretary, Mrs Rose Oriaran-Anthony, disclosed this to newsmen in Asaba on Monday.
Oriaran-Anthony said that INEC would make the exercise a continuous one contrary to insinuations in some quarters that it was going to end it after the first quarter.
She said the commission had to stop the exercise in the interim to enable it conduct some in-house cleansing.
The scribe added that it was also to ensure that the correct PVCs were printed for those that had registered.
She said that the commission was expected to print the register for claims and objections for intending voters to see and effect corrections during its break.
Oriaran-Anthony said that the registration of voters by the commission for its second quarter would start on July 31 and end by October.
She said that the printing of the PVCs for those that registered in the first quarter would be extended to October end. (NAN)
