Abuja – The harmonisation of data by security agencies in the country is in progress, an official of the Nigerian Prisons Service (NPS), Francis Enobore, said in Abuja on Wednesday.
Enobore, who is the spokesperson of NPS, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the collaboration between the service and other security agencies in the area of data harmonisation would help in the fight against crime in the society.
“There is no system that survives without credible data.
“We, as member of the security bodies in Nigeria synergise beautifully with other sister security organisations with respect to maintenance of data which of course will further help in tracking down crime and criminality and bringing it to a manageable level.
“The synergy has been very fruitful and very healthy; we are heading to a situation where at the press of a button, you can address sufficiently any crime issue.’’
He said the synergy had yielded positive results following breakthrough in some of their operations.
“I remember several years ago when we were able to burst a major crime from the intelligence we got from the prisons and we passed it over to the relevant agency, they went and laid ambush.
“The intelligence that was provided from the prison, the timing, operational mode and everything fell in place and the major crime was burst and a number of embarrassing issues were saved.’’
NAN recalls that the Federal government had ordered all security agencies to harmonise its data to boost security in the country. (NAN)
