Abuja (Sundiata Post) – The House of Representatives on Thursday urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to develop a system to delete dead persons’ names from the voters register.
The House resolution was sequel to a motion of urgent national importance by a member, Leke Abejide, drawing the attention of the House to what he described as irregularities observed during the 2023 general elections.
Abejide, who moved the motion, said his late father’s name was seen in the INEC register.
The lawmakers further urged the electoral commission to deregister any voter who doesn’t vote in two election cycles.
