Bauchi – Bauchi State chapter of Diabetes Association of Nigeria (DAN) on Saturday presented an “award for social service” to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara,
Also recognized by the association were the management of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBU-TH), Bauchi and a Director at the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), Alhaji Alkasim Umar.
Presenting the award on behalf of the association at a ceremony organised to mark the state chapter of the World Diabetes Day, Dr Saidu Kadas, chairman, Medical Administration Committee of ATBU-TH, said the recipients had been rendering humanitarian service to the association in different ways.
He said the recognition was in appreciation of their assistance and called on others to copy from their example.
Also in her remarks, Secretary of the association in the state, Mrs Uwa Abubakar, commended NAN for publicizing the activities of the association, as well as Hon. Dogara and Umar, for their support to patients with diabetes.
Responding on behalf of NAN, the Zonal Manager, Abdullahi Salihu, represented by a staff of the agency, Mrs Amina Ahmed, thanked the association for the recognition.
She assured the association that NAN would continue to cover its activities geared towards educating people on the health challenges of diabetes ailment.
