BENIN – The Edo State Head of Service, Mr Jerry Obazele, on Thursday donated 100 plastic chairs to the state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Benin.
Speaking during the presentation, Obazele urged journalists to continue to use their calling to propagate the policies and programmes of the state government.
“My gesture is a sign of many good things to come, I, therefore, urge you to sustain the collaboration and symbiotic relationship between the Edo NUJ and the state government,” he said.
Obazele, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Central Administration, Mr Thomas Idahosa, noted that journalists played a crucial role in the development of every society.
He tasked the journalists on fair reportage, adding that they should also use their unique positions to enhance national unity.
Obazele promised that he would at all times be ready to support the state council of the union in any area he could enhance professionalism among journalists.
Speaking on behalf of the union, its state chairman, Mr Desmond Agbama, thanked the Head Of Service for his magnanimity. (NAN)
