Omu-Aran (Kwara)- The people of Egosi community in Oke-Ero Local Government Area of Kwara on Sunday appealed for the location of more government establishments in the community to enhance its socio-economic development.
The Elegosi of Egosi kingdom, Oba Daniel Dada, made the appeal when traditional chiefs of the kingdom paid homage to him at his palace to commemorate the New Year.
Dada said that indigenes of the community had continued to contribute their quota to national development and, therefore, government needed to reciprocate by making its presence felt in the community.

According to him, the development so far in the community has been achieved through execution of communal projects by the people.
He listed the projects undertaken by the people to include rural electrification, rehabilitation of roads, provisions of boreholes and construction of a police post.
“We have never failed in our duty in giving our support to successive governments in their efforts to impact positively at the grassroots.
“We are at this juncture also appealing to both the state and Federal governments to consider the community in their allocation of social infrastructure to boost our economy.
“We are also pledging out total support to the government to do everything within our capacity to achieve free and fair general elections,” Dada said.
The monarch commended the state governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, for being sensitive to the yearnings and aspirations of the people of the community.

Earlier, Chief Ayinla Lawal, the President of Egosi Development Union, urged the government to post more teachers to schools within the community to teach some core subjects.
He also appealed for the conversion of the community’s primary healthcare centre to a full basic health centre to bring healthcare delivery nearer to the people. (NAN)
