Enugu – Sheik Abdul Isola, Chief Imam of Islamic Centre, Uwani, Enugu, has called on Muslim leaders to live exemplary life by following the footsteps of Prophet Mohammad peace be upon him.
Isola made the call while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Monday on the essence of the celebration worldwide.
He noted that Prophet Mohammed was “a great leader’’ that stood for service and selflessness during his life-time.
“Every good and great leader must serve his people selflessly even in difficulties.
“Our leaders, especially those that are Muslims must follow the footsteps of the master, Prophet Mohammed, by caring for all around them and not just for themselves and family members alone.
“We must follow Allah’s command of doing away with all forms of evil and wickedness, even as we occupy that office Allah had blessed us with.
“Everyone should remember that there will surely be a day of reckoning and stewardship to Almighty Allah,’’ he said.
The cleric, however, urged all Nigerians to seek peace and good neighbourliness to promote love and progress in the country.
“Our people, especially the youth, should strive to embrace peace in all they do.
“We cannot build a prosperous nation with hatred and intolerance among us,’’ he said.
NAN reports that the Eid-el Maulud is commemorated yearly to celebrate the birth of Prophet Mohammed. (NAN)
