Kano, – The Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Kano on Wednesday fixed May 25 and May 26 for the beginning of hearing in a petition filed by Sen. Bashir Lado of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Lado is challenging the victory of Gov. Rabi’u Kwankwaso of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano Central Senatorial District election held on March 28.
When the case came up for pretrial, all the counsels to the respondents challenged the authenticity of the document in view of the fact that they were photocopies.
However, in his ruling, the tribunal Chairman, Justice Cornelius Akintayo, said the essence of the pretrial was to sort out the entire document filed by each party.

“Pretrial is a normal practice. It is mandated that we must issue a report on pretrial,’’ he said.
He ordered that the pretrial report be issued to all parties before the next adjourned date.
NAN recalled that only four petitions were filed by aggrieved candidates after the 2015 general election. (NAN)
