ENUGU (ENUGU STATE) – Ahead of Christmas celebration, Enugu metropolis has lit up with various decorations, flowers and Santa Claus effigies.
Others include souvenirs associated with Christmas and various displays in shops and markets.
Fireworks and knockouts, otherwise known as banger, are being purchased by young people as they get into the celebration mood.
According to some residents, it is a period that no one wants to be left out.
Chike Obi, a fashion designer, said the decoration of his shop was a way of wishing all his customers a Merry Christmas.
A civil Servant, Mr Sunday Edeh, said Christmas affords celebrants the opportunity to decorate offices, houses, shops and a time of celebration full of fun all over the world.
Ogechi Ozo, a hair dresser, said that people always looked forward to Christmas.
“Christmas has become a period when people look forward to attend events of different kinds, it is a merrymaking season for people everywhere, especially in Coal City’’, Ozo said.
Mrs Joy Ogbu, who sells childrens wears at Ogbete Market, told NAN that Enugu residents were in Christmas mood.
“The market is filled up with people as you can see for yourself, many people have come to buy one or two items for their families despite the economic hardship in the country.”
Mr Osita Udoh said his children, who were on holiday, needed to celebrate the Christmas by taking them to places of their choice.
“My children are now on holiday, so I and my wife have to take them out to where ever they want so as to feel what Christmas is like”, he said.
