ABUJA (Sundiata Post) My anger is the ethnic colouration my Igbo brothers and sisters are giving this GTBank and Innoson issue. Guys, you don’t need it. Enough of some reductionist mentality of the-rest-of-the-country-hates-us. Please!
Having said this, it is obvious that GT Bank is holding the short end of the stick. At the High Court, you didn’t remember to raise the issue of forged documents and fraudulent acts of Innoson. At the Appeal, same thing. You also did not remember. You lost in these two courts. About losing again at the Supreme Court, you suddenly remembered your “rights to report any criminal activity to appropriate Law Enforcement Agencies.”
Two agencies that banks use to harass their customers are AMCON and EFCC. Whenever their debtors discover discrepancies in charges and they (banks) discover their debtors have a very good case, they suddenly remember “appropriate law enforcement agencies”.
I have two of such stories I am working on right now. One involves a property developer and his bank and the other involving a top advertising agency and its bank. The two are similar: charges on loans with charges already trebling the value of the loans themselves or loans being fully paid but deductions continue!
If Nigerians can come up and report illegal deductions on their accounts on daily basis, many bank MDs will be in jail!
Awon ole gbogbo!
