LAGOS – Pius Asaba, a former Secretary of the Nigeria Amputee Football Federation (NAFF), on Tuesday urged Nigerians to change their attitudes toward amputee football.
Asaba, who is also a member of the Amputee Football Federation of Africa (AFFA), made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
He said that the negative attitude of Nigerians to the sport had discouraged the amputee footballers and their coaches from taking further interest in the game. [eap_ad_1] “Nobody wants to associate himself with amputee football again in Nigeria,
“We have Nation’s Cups, We have some club-side games outside the country, we have the World Cup and once we cannot partake in these games, I don’t think there is any need for training.
“What should be done now is an effective president, who has the passion to drive this game and to change the mentality of people toward this game.“
Asaba said that the sport was an avenue for amputee footballers to contribute to the development of football in the country. (NAN)
