Jos, – Mr George Azih, an old student of St Joseph’s College, Vom, Jos South Local Government of Plateau, has remodeled a block of hostels at the college.
Azih, who belonged to the 1995 set of the institution and based in the U.S., told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Jos, that the gesture is aimed at giving back to his Alma-Mater
He added that the gesture would enable students have a conducive learning environment, adding that it would address the challenge of accommodation shortage in the college.
”This is part of my contribution to an institution that made me; without this college probably I wouldn’t be where I am today.
”So, this is basically to give back to my alma mater and make life more comfortable for students by en-suiting the hostels, making them self-contained with modern toilets and bathrooms.
”This model makes the hostels to become ‘closed compounds’ with only two entrances and very easy to secure students and monitor their movements.
”It cost me over N6 million to do this, but for me the money is secondary considering what this gesture will do toward uplifting the standard of education in this college,” he said.
Azih, who is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of LeaseQuery, an Accounting Software Company, called on other old students of the school to give back to the institution no matter how little.
