ABUJA – A medical expert, Dr Olufemi Ladeinde, has advocated the adoption of

Ladeinde made the call on Thursday in Abuja at a public presentation of a new cancer management drug, Vidatox CH 30.
Ladeinde observed that chemotherapy and other common methods of cancer management were more harmful to the body than the disease itself, in spite of the high cost of making such treatment options available.
Ladeinde, a consultant at Rencare Integrated Healthcare Services, Lagos, said the method entailed enabling the body system to fight cancer in the body.
He said creating a conducive environment for the human body to fight cancerous cells was the most cost effective and potent means of cancer management anywhere in the world.
According to him, cancer thrives better when the body’s immune system has been rendered less effective.
He said the human body has sufficient capacity to contain any form of cancer provided the individual adopted a lifestyle that was less harmful to the immune system.
Ladeinde said consumption of the appropriate diets at the right time, sleeping at the right time to allow the body function properly could help to either prevent or fight off cancer in the human body.
“There are a lot of things that we take for granted as humans especially in managing diseases in our bodies.
“There is no ailment that our bodies cannot confront if we keep to the rules of healthy living, eating breakfast for instance, is a key to preventing pancreatic cancer but many people are not aware of this.
“The kind of food we eat and even lack of sleep can predispose one to cancer, perhaps that is why we see all manner of cancers today in even 18, 20-year-old persons in Nigeria,’’ he said.
Ladeinde said the cost of orthodox treatment for cancer might be quite high, but that patients could adopt a system that would allow the body system contain the disease.
He said the newly introduced drug possessed the necessary ingredients in the new paradigm in cancer management worldwide.
On his part, the Director-General, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Dr Paul Orhir, said the drug had been certified by the agency to be appropriate in cancer management.
He said the drug, among other benefits, has the least side effect on users and was suitable for all categories of patients.
He said apart from Nigeria, the Chinese drug regulatory agency had registered it for use by its citizens.
Orhir recommended the drug for use by Nigerians and medical facilities in the management of cancer.
Dr John Toragbidye, Associate Partner at the Veterinary Pharmaceutical Development Company, manufacturers of the drug, had earlier said the drug was the latest bio-therapeutic for cancer management.
Toragbidye said the drug has been tested and certified by authorities in many countries of the world.
According to him, the drug is an anti-inflammatory, an analgesic and has anti-tumour properties which are essential in modern cancer management.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the official presentation of the drug in Nigeria was facilitated by the Cuban government in collaboration with NAFDAC. (NAN)
