Lagos – Mr Temitope Ogunsemo, Managing Director, Krystal Digital Network Solutions Ltd, an I.T. firm, on Sunday called on the Federal Government to integrate Information and Communication Technology (ICT) operations in governance.
Ogunsemo made the appeal at a news conference in Lagos.
According to him, this will enhance public service delivery and monitoring in government activities.
He said that the government could achieve its change agenda through the adoption of ICT in checkmating corruption, crime and terrorism in the country.
“We are in the world of technology, where everything can be viewed in one’s hand. The world is fast advancing technologically.
Therefore, the adoption of ICT will help to enhance national economic development,’’ Ogunsemo said.
He noted that the e-governance in ICT would facilitate the activities of the general pubic, as well as that of the civil servants in the country.

“Government should embark on the training of the public sector employees in technology, for them to be technologically inclined and enable them to keep pace with the developing world.
“Once government workers are well trained in ICT, it will help in combating corruption and effective monitoring of their performance, because all their daily activities will be tailored through the computer,’’ he said.
The managing director urged government to collaborate with I.T. experts in the training and the retraining of the public sector employees in advanced technology.
He said that his company was honoured as the “Best School Management Software Developer of the year 2015’’ on Nov. 21.
Ogunsemo said that the award was achieved based on its effective service delivery to Federal Government Colleges across the country.
“We have been in the forefront of delivering software development solutions to the Federal Government Colleges by creating portals for them, as well as platforms for the online payment of school fees and the monitoring of students’ activities and performances.
“The idea is to bridge the gap between public schools and private schools, in terms of information technology, “ he said.
According to him, recent research has proven that ICT has great benefits and a high potential to improve the quality of education at all levels.
“ICT has the potential to accelerate, enrich and deepen skills, to motivate and engage students, and to help relate school experiences to work practices,’’ he said.
Ogunsemo explained that improved quality of education was essential to the creation of effective human capital in any country.
“The need for ICT in the Nigerian educational system cannot be overemphasised.
“In this technology-driven age, everyone requires ICT competence to survive,’’ he said.
Ogunsemo, therefore, urged the Federal Government to appoint ICT professionals into public offices, to enhance overall national economic development. (NAN)
