Wife of a former governor of Lagos State, Mrs. Abimbola Fashola, has advised female pupils to imbibe good virtues as they transit from adolescence to adulthood.
She also urged the girls to be good citizens by placing high values on morals.
Fashola said this recently as a guest speaker at the Guidance and Counselling Day organised by the Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls in Lagos.
Mrs. Fashola, who was chosen for her exemplary comportment and achievements as first lady, counseled the pupils to focus on their academics and shun distractions.
In her address, the founder of the school, Mrs. Leila Fowler, said the annual career and counselling fair was more than a platform to guide the pupils on career path.
“The school places high premium on guidance and counselling in view of the sensitive nature of girls as they plough through the adventurous world of adolescence into adulthood. The school engages professional counselors to speak to the pupils in order to achieve a balanced moral and academic growth,” she said
Fowler added that the college has the mission to offer the girl-child qualitative and functional secondary school education.

“The mission of the college in bringing out the best in the girl child has been yielding enormous result with the performance of the pupils academically. We want to raise a generation of young women who will respect and uphold the dignity of labour,’’ she said.(PUNCH)
