Abuja – The FCT Commissioner of Police, Mr Wilson Inalegwu, has urged residents of Apo and its environs to be law abiding and maintain calm as adequate measures have been put in place to forestall any act that would be inimical to peace in the territory.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Anjuguri Manzah, on Monday in Abuja.
The statement said Inalegwu made the call following an early morning disagreement between two opposing groups in the area.
It said that a clash was averted by the timely intervention of the anti-riot policemen deployed to the area to save the situation from escalating.
The statement assured residents of the area and other parts of FCT that adequate measures had been deployed to contain the situation.
It said that investigation had begun to unravel the remote and underlining issues behind the upheaval.
The statement said that the commissioner had warned that any attempt to jeopardise the existing peaceful atmosphere in the territory would not be tolerated from any quarter.
It enjoined residents to go about their lawful businesses without any form of apprehension, as the situation had been brought under control. (NAN)
