Gusau – The Federal Government’s feeding programme for pupils in basic schools across the country is targeted at 360, 000 pupils in Zamfara.
The Programme Manager, Malam Kabiru Abubakar, gave the number of pupils when he spoke with journalists in Gusau on Thursday.
He said that the programme was designed in such a way that its three cardinal objectives would be achieved.
According to him, the objectives are empowerment, increased pupil school enrolment and increase in agricultural demand.
He also said that the programme, which commenced on Feb. 27, has yet to take off in all parts of the state as some vendors did not receive their payment from the banks.
The programme manager, however , said the feeding was only for pupils between primary one and three in public schools.
He said that a monitoring process was in place through the use of headmasters of the schools and School-based Management Committee, who were to oversee and report to the programme manager for necessary action.
