Expressway to combat flooding.
Afolabi told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that about 500m of drain would be constructed to link a [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]
major canal to eradicate flooding on the highway.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]

“There is a major problem of water and we finally resolved that that lined drain should be reconstructed.
“The first sets of problem we saw there has to do with management of refuse and debris and it is that

debris that flows into our drain that causes spillage on our pavement.
“And the pavement is not water-friendly so, before you know it potholes degenerate to failed sections; and failed sections degenerate into cutting the road into two.
“I proposed to the agency headquarters and the approval has been granted to re-construct the lined drain which the contractor has just reported, but pending the time before we commence, we must make sure that even after constructing the drain, we must not come to the same problem.
“The Ilepo axis, we are constructing it, the other side which is the NURTW, we are constructing it but the one that is more paramount to us, that approval has been granted, is the one at Ilepo.
“We want to widen the drain so that it can contain and consume water so that we can have a good flow and not spillage.
“Over 500 metres of drain to be constructed from Katangua Market straight down to the discharge.’’ (NAN)
