Abuja – `Fifty,’ a movie that captures a few pivotal days in the lives of four Nigerian women at the pinnacle of their careers will be premiered on Dec. 13th in Lagos.
This is contained in a statement issued by Mosunmola Abudu, popularly known as Mo, Executive Producer of the movie obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Abuja.
Mo is also Chief Executive Officer, EbonyLife (EL) TV, Africa’s first Global Black Entertainment and Lifestyle network.
She said the movie portrayed the struggle of contemporary African women, their bid to balance their aspirations while navigating unresolved traditional obligations.
“It tackled the trials, triumphs, joy and heartbreak of the African woman in the 21st century juggling her careers with family background.
“The movie talked about their lives, work and vision of becoming the most vibrant women in the commercial capital economy in Africa,’’ Mo said.
The movie, directed by Mr Biyi Bandele, featured four major Nollywood celebrities — Omoni Oboli, Nse Ekpe Etim, Dakore Egbuson-Akande and Ireti Dolye.

Ireti Doyle played the role of `Elizabeth’ a celebrated obstetrician whose penchant for younger men estranged her from her daughter.
Doyle had featured in a number of stage and screen productions and had equally hosted a number of television programme with the most popular being “Tinsel.”
Dakore Egbuson-Akande played the character `Tola’ a TV star whose marriage to Kunle a lawyer never stood a chance thanks to an invidious family secret.
Aside acting, Egbuson-Akande is a TV personality, singer and dancer and an ambassador for Amnesty International and Oxfam of America.
Omoni Oboli, an award winning actress, writer, producer and director, played the role of `Maria,’ a 49-year-old lady who had an affair with a married man that resulted in an unexpected pregnancy.
Nse Etim, a multi award winning actress, played the role of `Kate’ who battled life-threatening illness that plunged her into religious obsession in the movie.
Other actors who featured in the movie included Timini Egbuson, Wale Ojo, Emmanuel Ikubese, Kachi Nnochiri, Kemi ‘Lala’ Akindoju, and Uzor Osimpa.
NAN reports that popular music stars like King Sunny Ade, Femi Kuti, Nneka and Tiwa Savage also featured in the movie as special guest.
`Fifty’ was recently nominated and shortlisted under the ‘Love Category’ by the British Film Institute during the 2015 London Film Festival. (NAN)
