Port Harcourt – Soye Elekima, President, Amateur Body and Fitness Federation of Nigeria has urged Rivers Government to assist it to host the 14th African Championship in the sport sometime in October.
In a statement, released by Elekima from Sandton, South Africa and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt the federation also sought the support of corpoare bodies.
Elekima is attending an an ongoing inaugural Arnold Classic Africa Body and Fitness Championship.
The statement called on the Rivers Government to use the African Bodybuilding Championship, scheduled for Port Harcourt to put the state on the continental sports map.
It explained that the success of the event would showcase Port Harcourt as `a safe haven’ for investment and tourism.
The president said that a proposal had been sent to the government, and that they were optimistic the proposal would receive positive response.
The statement urged corporate bodies, especially those doing business in Port Harcourt to support the federation in order to make the African championship a huge success. (NAN)
