Bauchi – Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Alhaji Aminu Saleh is dead.
A family source said Saleh, 87, died on Wednesday morning at the Federal Medical Center, Azare, Bauchi State.
The deceased left behind one wife and 18 children.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that among his children was the immediate past Deputy Governor of the state, Alhaji Sagir Saleh.
Former Governor of the state, Malam Isa Yuguda, in a condolence message, described the death of the elder statesman and one time Head of Service to the Federal Government as a “great lost to the country”.
Yuguda, in a statement in Bauchi, also described the death as a monumental loss not only to his immediate families, Katagum Emirate and the state, but to the entire country.
He recalled that he had enjoyed fatherly advises from Late Saleh during his tenure as governor of the State.
He said the deceased was always frank and straight forward on matters that borders on good governance and leadership, adding that the late Elder Statesman allowed his son, Sagir Aminu Saleh, to serve as his deputy between 2011 and 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that sympathisers from within and outside the state have been trooping to the residence of the deceased to pay condolence on the family. (NAN)
