From blindfold play to warm wax, ten ways to spice up your s*x life

WE are becoming a sexually inactive nation with just a quarter of adults romping at least once a week, new statistics have revealed.

Unsurprisingly, the YouGov poll found those in their late twenties are the most likely to have regular bedroom action.

But 38 per cent of 35 to 39-year-olds said they had not had sex in the past seven days – the highest of any age group. And the number of people giving up sex increases as they get older.

Almost a fifth of 40 to 44-year- olds don’t get any at all. By 74, this figure jumps to 57 per cent.

But if you are having a lean spell, there are ways to boost your confidence and time spent between the sheets.

Sexpert Annabelle Knight has ten top tips on how to make your bedroom action sizzle…

PLANNING for sex might seem, well, unsexy, but the reality is we lead busy lives and sometimes the only way to get anything done is to set aside time.

Just like you schedule a workout or hair appointment, put it in the diary.

Set your alarm clock for 30 minutes earlier than usual or both agree to meet at home during lunch.

Couples that schedule sex build high levels of positive anticipation through their day. Throw a suggestive text into the mix as well.

TREAT your partner to a sexy striptease.

Set the scene with dim lights, candles and sensual music.

If you’re not into the idea of performing solo, make like Baby and Johnny in the film Dirty Dancing and do it together.

This is a fab way to begin sexy stimulation. Your bodies moving in unison will strengthen intimacy levels.

TAKING a bath together is a great way to connect with your partner on an emotionally intimate level.

You can use your time to talk about anything.

Take turns washing one another, making sure to pay special attention to any erogenous zones or particular areas your partner likes to be touched.

Better emotional intimacy often leads to higher levels of physical intimacy too. This is a win- win.

PLAN a romantic night in together that centres around your bedroom.

Choose relaxing and sensual music, use candles to create sexy lighting and invest in a bottle of massage oil that doubles up as a lubricant for when things get more steamy.

MOBILE phones, TVs, laptops and games consoles all spell trouble for your sex life. Technology splits our attention and can cause our loved one to feel second best.

Have a tech detox at least once a week where you leave your phones in a drawer and turn off the telly and games console.

This allows you to reconnect with your partner and spend your time in a more sexually productive way.

If you look at a screen, why not watch something to get you in the mood. I recommend Erika Lust for his- and-hers friendly porn.

THIS is one of my favourite things to recommend to couples as it can help you learn so much about your partner.

Each of you will need a pen and a sheet of paper. Write down five things you would like to try together then compare notes.

If there are duplicates then that’s wonderful, if not, then you get to each choose one thing from your partner’s list to try.

Agree that there will be no and that you will both put in effort to whatever it is your partner desires.

CERTAIN foods have been found to boost libido.

Dark chocolate, pistachios, saffron, oysters, and ginseng are thought to be aphrodisiacs because they have vitamins and minerals that can increase blood flow to the genitals.

Plan a meal that includes at least two of these foods for a night of passion.

PRETTY much all of us owns a scarf or tie. This is an easy and simple way to add a bit of kink in a fun and safe way.

Use your scarf as a blindfold, wrist restraints or incorporate it into a sexy striptease for your partner.

If you do decide to use it to tie and tease it is very important you make sure you agree on a safe word.

If it gets too much at any point, then your partner will know to stop.

TEMPERATURE play helps to make you more sensitive to your partner’s touch by increasing blood flow to your skin and setting your nerve endings alight.

All you will need for this is a candle.

There are specially designed massage candles on the market, which I’d recommend using as the wax melts into an oil.

Just make sure to blow the candle out before drizzling the wax from a safe height.
