Akko (Gombe) – Gombe State Government says it will spend N240 million on malnutrition programme and the construction of a specialist hospital in Gona town in Akko Local Government Area of the state.

Gov. Ibrahim Dankwambo made thei known during his visit to Gona and Akko emirate councils on Wednesday.
Dankwambo said that the hospital would help in providing healthcare for the people in the area and the state in general.
He called on the emir to secure a plot of land for the project.
According to Dankwambo, three local government areas in the state were identified with the problem of malnutrition among children.
He, therefore, urged parents, especially nursing mothers, to breast feed their children well, while husbands should provide good food for their families.
Dankwambo also reassured the people that the people would provide potable water to Gona community as the government had paid 30 per cent of the contract sum to the contractor handling the project.
According to him, the contractors have begun drilling over 350 meters deep without seeing water.
Dankwambo, however, said that his administration would complete all ongoing projects in the state before embarking on new ones.
The governor further urged members of the public to pray for the country’s leaders at all levels from the President down to the councilors for God guidance to discharge their duties responsibly.
Responding, Alhaji Umar Atiku, the Emir of Akko, assured the governor of the commitment of the people through prayers for the state and the country at large.
Atiku condemned the criminal activities of some youths in the area and urged the governor to intervene and address the problem.
Also in his remark, Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam, the Emir of Gona, thanked the governor for the visit and his commitment toward the development of the state. (NAN)
