Gov. Yari tasks Muslims on unity, peace, tolerance

Zaria  –  Gov. Abdul-Azeez Yari of Zamfara on Tuesday tasked Muslim Ummah on unity, peace and tolerance, to aid national growth and development.

He made the call while declaring open the 1437AH/2016 Annual Ramadan Tafsir organised by Islamic Trust of Nigeria (ITN) at the ITN Mosque, Zangon Shanu, Zaria.

Yari, who was represented by his deputy, Malam Ibrahim Wakala, said peace was a critical element that must not be compromised.

He lauded the efforts of the committee that supervised the building of the giant mosque, urging the team to sustain the tempo toward projecting the image of Islam.

The governor called on all Muslims to use the Ramadan period to repent and pray for the present administrations at all levels to succeed.

In his speech, the Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris, pledged to extend maximum and unflinching support toward the development of ITN Mosque.

The Emir, who was represented by Galadiman Zazzau, Alhaji Nuhu Aliyu, expressed confidence in the committee that supervised the project.

Earlier, the chairman, ITN Mosque Project Committee, who is also the Emir of Lere, Alhaji Garba Mohammed, said the project began about eight years ago.

He called on wealthy Muslims to come forward and contribute their quota to promoting Islam, not only in Nigeria, but the world over. (NAN)
