Abuja – Police Machine of Kaduna on Tuesday beat rivals Yobe Desert Rollers 2-0 to stay second at the ongoing Hockey Super League in Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the competition holding at the National Stadium’s Package B is being organised by the Nigeria Hockey Federation (NHF).
After the match, coach Mohammed Junaidu of Police Machine said he was satisfied with his players’ performance as the team was now in good standing on the competition’s log.
He however acknowledged that the team still needed to win all its remaining matches to win the competition and qualify for the African club championship.
“My boys played according to instructions and I am very grateful for what I have seen today. I hope we will do our best throughout the tournament.
“The tournament is highly contested and I believe that this is the number one league in Nigeria and the toughest,” Junaidu said.
On his part, coach Fateh Biru of Yobe Desert Rollers also said he was happy with the performance of his players because hockey players are one big family.
“We hope to come back stronger next time,’’ he said.(NAN)
