ABUJA (Sundiata Post) The Igede Development Index Group has lamented the poor state of infrastructures in Benue state. According to the group’s members from across the country, there is a total collapse of infrastructures in the State.
The President of Igede Development Index, Amos Glad Igoh who specifically made this known to newsmen in Makurdi advised Igede people to review their sense of participation in Nigeria politics essentially in Benue political affairs.
‘’The complete neglect of Igede people for so long in virtually every facet of development by Benue State government is very embarrassing and heartbraking. We have no presence of federal and state government in Igede land almost since inception of Nigeria as a sovereign entity. Since 1976, no governor or top official of Benue State has commissioned any project in Igede land particularly in Oju local government council,’’ he said.
According to Amos Glad Igoh, the government of Benue state has failed to inspire confidence and have also failed to run an inclusive system of governance.
‘’We are calling for critical review of Igede participation in national and state politics comes 2019. In the future, Igede will only give their support to politicians and parties that will be willing to carry Igede people along in terms of practical development and open up Igedeland as an investment hub in Benue state.
‘’Oju- Alede road could be best described as a ‘death trap’. The number of lives lost on that road apart from the economic disadvantage it poses to Igede nation is mind-shocking. Thus, our sincere appeal is for the government of Benue state to do the needful and change the narrative of Igede people from bad to good,’’ he added.
