INEC congratulates NUJ, seeks cooperation


ABUJA (Sundiata Post) – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has congratulated the Nigerian Union Of Journalists (NUJ) for the successful conduct of election for its executives at the just concluded 5th National Triennial Delegates Conference which took place in Abuja.
In a congratulatory letter signed by the acting chairman of the Commission, Amina Bala Zakari, and made available to Sundiata Post, the Commission expressed profound delight that the election which led to the emergence of Abdulwaheed Odusile as president-elect was “transparent and was devoid of rancour”.

The INEC acting chairman hailed the immense contribution of the NUJ in articulating the Nigerian Media Code of Elections Coverage which was adopted on the 30th of October 2014 in Lagos.
She stressed that the Commission had enjoyed cordial relationship with the NUJ, which she explained has further been strengthened with its good working relationship with the INEC PRESS CORPS who report the activities of the Commission.
“The Commission wishes the new executive Godspeed and looks forward to working with it to enhance the electoral process and to continue to deliver transparent elections to Nigerians”, she said.
