Dutse – The General Manager of the Jigawa Housing Authority, Alhaji Babangida Abubakar, has said that the renovation of official residences of members of the House of Assembly will gulp N16 million.
Abubakar who made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Wednesday, said the renovation included plumbing, electric fittings, painting, roofing and furnishing.
He said the authority was executing the renovation expected to be completed in four weeks, stressing that the aim was to give the lawmakers a befitting environment for better performance.
The general manager said the authority would ensure quality renovation to prove to the government and the public that it could do better than contractors.
Also, Malam Ali Ya’u, a top official of the assembly, commended the state government for using the authority for the renovation.
Ya’u also expressed satisfaction with level of work by the authority which he put 75 per cent completion.
According to Ya’u, the legislators will stay in the renovated houses, pending completion of the new houses initiated by the immediate past administration. (NAN)
