Abuja (Sundiata Post) – President Muhammadu Buhari has extended the tenure of the Governor of Central Bank, Mr Godwin Emefiele with another second term of five years.
Buhari announced the tenure extension of Emefiele in a letter to the senate addressed through Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki on Thursday.
He therefore called on the senate to consider and confirm his appointment for second term.
The letter reads:
“In view of the expiration of the first tenure of the current Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria on June 2. 2019 and pursuant to the provisions of section 8(1)(2) of the CBN act 2007, I hereby present for confirmation by the State Mr. Godwin Emefiele for re-appointment as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria for a final term of five (5) years.”
“It is my hope that the distinguised senate will consider and confirm the nominee in the usual expeditious manner.”
